Brunch in Budapest

Budapest is ample with eateries but below you can find 5 of my favourite spots to grab some brunch!

1. Csiga Cafe

You will find this gem in the up-and-coming 8th district just behind Rakoczi metro station. The food here isn’t traditional Hungarian so-to-speak but it’s local which means it’s fresh and great quality. The prices here are not super duper cheap but it is worth every penny. The staff are friendly and the decor creates a cozy atmosphere. If you find yourself here, then I would recommend the Tortilla or Gnocchi dishes.

2. Kőleves

Koloves is in the heart of the Jewish Quarter  – a stone’s throw from the famous Szimpla Kert. There is a wide variety of dishes here and you will not be disappointed. After tucking into some grub. head outside to their garden for a lemonade or beer (summer only).

3. Fecske Presszo

Heading back to the 8th district now. This spot is popular among tourists and locals alike. Prices are a steal and on weekdays between 10.a.m. and midday you can get any size and type of coffee for 280HUF!! I’d recommend their sandwich and fries combo which will cost you a mere 1500HUF (less than 5EUR).

4. Lumen Cafe

Lumen is a great place to chill out. Their choices of hot drinks and alcoholic beverages are great at their 2 locations and the staff are super friendly. Both cafes are also dog-friendly, so if you want to take your furry friend along then this is your place. In the evening’s Lumen’s smaller cafe on Krudy Gyula Utca is the perfect place for a drink or two.

5. Sonkapult

Here at Sonkapult you will find everything from freshly-squeezed juices to avocado toast to pancakes and bagels. This place has a lively atmosphere and the prices are not going to break the bank. Be prepared for a plate full of colourful and nutritious food – perfect for that instagram photo 😉
